Bubbly Baths

The British Virgin Islands are a group of about sixty islands and rocks. We visited four of these; Virgin Gouda (fat woman), Tortola (land of turtledoves) and two islands named after pirates, Norman Island and Jost Van Dyke.

The best things about the islands were visiting The Baths, The Bubbly Pool, playing with my friend Love ( pronounced lou- vey) and Dad’s Birthday.

The Baths

The Baths are a group of rocks protecting a beach. There are lots of rocks and a path through caves. The biggest rocks that I could see were about 100 m high. The path through the caves was amazing and kind of spooky. There were little pools of water that were made by the sea coming in. The temperature of this water was interesting. One part of the water was freezing cold and then the next pool, a few metres away, had a nice warm feeling. The path ended at Devil’s Bay and there was good snorkelling there.

The Bubbly Pool

I went to the Bubbly Pool with my friend Love. He is Swedish and also speaks fluent English. We went to the Bubbly Pool with Ellen and Love’s sister Mya. The bubbly Pool is like a big rock pool that the waves crash into and create a tiny tidal wave. The biggest waves pushed us all up onto the beach. We sometimes posted a look out to spot the big waves coming so that we could prepare for them.

Dad’s Birthday

After mum’s boring birthday Ellen and I decided that we would prepare Dad’s birthday ourselves. We made banners saying Happy Birthday. We made a party game called pin the mast on the tall ship. We made a treasure hunt and map for Dad to find his presents. Dad said it was his best birthday ever.

This is our last Caribbean stop from here we will head north to Bermuda and the USA.

  1. Great Logs Cian and Ellen – woudl love to visit the bubbly baths, they look really cool. Peter wants to know if you climbed up any of the rocks? Justins birthday sounded lots of fun, he looks younger everyday – only 25 now!:) We took Danu out to her summer mooring last week, so that always a nice time of year, we are now getting her ready for Peter’s big trip as he is sailing to Lofoten end June. He plans to climb a large lump of rock called ‘stetend’, I dont think that is spelt right but thats the phonetic spelling! I’m going to do some camping with Lilian and Ruairi and then in August when Peter comes back we plan to sail to the Kenmare river. Enjoy the BVI’s. Vera Peter, Lilian and Ruairi. xx
